The smartphone shares a similar aesthetic to previous Coolpad products featuring a unibody metal design and a curved back. There’s a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS panel up front coupled with off-screen capacitive buttons. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s good old Snapdragon 653 octa-core processor, Adreno 510 GPU, 6 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage and a 4000 mAh non-removable battery. Unfortunately, you cannot expand the memory through an SD card.
The rear camera arrangement includes two 13-megapixel lenses, dual-tone LED flashes and a front-facing 8-megapixel f/2.2 shooter. On the software front, Coolpad includes Android Nougat (7.1.1) out-of-the-box overlaid by a custom skin called “Journey UI”. The company is also promising an OTA for Android 8.0 by the end of this year. Moreover, the handset comes with a fingerprint scanner, dual-SIM support, and a USB Type-C port. The Coolpad Cool Play 6 will be available in two color options – Gold and Black.
