The next month’s iPhone event will mark the first time in quite a while since Windows users were able to officially live-stream an Apple presentation. Thus, this year, the requirements needed to live-stream the event have changed a great deal for Windows users, as follows:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later PC with Edge on Windows 10 Streaming via Apple TV requires a second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later
The reason why Windows 10 users will be able to watch via Microsoft’s built-in Edge browser is the fact that it supports the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology that Apple uses. If you have tried previously to watch an Apple event on a Windows device, you probably know how annoying it could be. So, that’s about it, this year’s edition is going to easier to follow, provided you have Windows 10 installed. Who knows, maybe Apple is doing Microsoft a small favor here, stimulating Windows users with an interest in Apple products to upgrade to the latest OS. Therefore, if you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and have iOS 7.0 or above installed, then you can watch the entire event live using Safari. Mac users need to have at least OS X 10.8.5 installed, and running Safari 6.0.5 to watch the event. The event is scheduled for Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific, or 1 p.m. Eastern.
