Samsung’s tablet is designed to work with Google Play for Education and is available as of today for $369.99 through Samsung’s own distribution and channel partners. It runs on Android 4.4, comes with a 1.2 GHz quad core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage which can be extend thanks to the microSD to an additional 64 GB of storage. It has a battery capacity of 6800 mAH which is said to last for 10 hours of normal use. The traditional WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless and NFC are there and the tablet also comes with a HDMI port which will be quite useful when connecting to an external screen. By the looks of the specs, we can see that this isn’t a tablet aimed at sole buyers, but focused on classrooms, hence its lower price and the rugged aspect. The iPad is becoming the preferred tablet in education, business and other organizations, so Samsung feels that it can put a little bit of pressure there. The Galaxy Tab 4 Education can be used with Samsung School, as well, which is an interactive classroom management solution. Also, for $30 extra per device, the Google Apps for Education web console can be used to manage the device. Therefore, in order to make use of all of its education-oriented features, the final price of the tablet and the service that it offers is of $400. This is the same as the last year’s iPad and more expensive by $100 than the Asus Transformer Pad (Education) tablet.
