The latest smart device from the Chinese firm would sit in the Smart Home category in the Mijia product lineup. The news regarding the lamp comes soon after Xiaomi partnered with Philips Lighting to develop smart home products under the Mijia brand for Chinese consumers. Thus, it won’t be much of a surprise if this Mi Smart Bedside Lamp is built in collaboration with Philips, but we don’t have that confirmation yet.
Coming to the product, the bedside lamp is composed of a circular disc-like front where the speaker lies in the middle encircled by a ring-shaped LED. This LED basically functions as a lamp and can light up in a total of seven colors including red, orange, yellow, green, sky blue, violet and pink. It’s worth noting that you can manually select any of these colors directly via the smartphone app. There’s also a rectangular LED display at the base of the smart lamp which shows the time of the date and waves a ‘Hi’ to you whenever you switch on the lamp. Apart from that, the lamp doubles up as an alarm clock thereby eliminating the need for a bedside clock. Well, that’s about all you could have expected from a lamp; but wait, as the Mi Smart Bedside Lamp promises to do even more.
The Mi Smart Bedside Lamp has the ability to play your music from your phone’s library. It can also intimate you about the weather outside, upcoming calendar events, read out messages directly via voice command. That said, it’s worth mentioning that the speaker of the bedside lamp comes with Hi-Fi certification. The Mi Smart Bedside Lamp is soon expected to go on sale in China for a price of 499 Yuan (Rs 4,937/$72 approx.)
